How to Magnetize a Screwdriver

Mr. Fix It shows us how to magnetize a screwdriver in this YouTube video. There is nothing more frustrating than working on something and the screw keeps falling off the screwdriver! You don’t have to go and buy a brand new magnetized screwdriver to hold onto tiny screws. Just run your screwdriver over a magnet as shown in the video and you will have yourself a tool that doubles as a magnet, both to hold the screw in place, or to pick up any dropped screws that are hard to reach.

up cycled plastic gallon dust pan

This is a great DIY dustpan cleaning hack you can make in a pinch! Simply find a large, empty plastic container to up-cycle. It can be a plastic gallon milk container or any large plastic container that has a handle and flat side. All you need is the container, scissors or knife (I used both) and a marker to outline around the handle and flat side. You want create a useful flat shovel-like tool that you can easily sweep your pile of dirt into.

Catch Drywall Dust When Drilling Overhead

Trying to drill a hole in a ceiling can be a messy business! Next time, grab a small diameter disposable cocktail paper plate and drill right through it. The plate will then catch most of the dust and debris as it drops from the ceiling. Make sure to use a small diameter or clear plate, otherwise you’ll find it very hard to align your bit.

Flush Cut Door Jambs

Cutting flooring around door jambs is way too hard. Instead, place a scrap piece of the new flooring material next to the jamb and use it as a guide for an undercut saw. You’ll have the perfect pocket to slide flooring materials underneath so you won’t need to make intricate cuts around the jamb trim. A japanese pull saw or oscillating multi-tool works best for this type of flush cutting
