Magnetic Bobby Pin Holder

I get a little aggravated and impatient when I can’t find a bobby pin at that critical moment when you just need one. And more often than not, that seemed to be the case. I discovered that bobby pins and magnets go together like two peas in a pod. Once I made this accidental discovery, I decided to make something of it. I adhered a few inches of magnetic strip to the inside of a bathroom drawer. When I pull the pins out of my hair, they go straight to the magnet where they stay until I need them again. No more scrounging around for bobby pins with this simple bobby pin holder!

Cupboard Door Organizer

We’ve made it a goal around our house to create usable space from what might seem like unusable space. For instance, check out the inside of our newly painted office desk cabinet. We created a cupboard door organizer by covering a bulletin board with a neutral fabric. This opens up space to tack up reminders and inspirations. On the lower section of the door, we adhered a dry erase board for quick notes or for homework problems. We love this convenient space!

Perfect Picture Placement

perfect picture placement

For some of us, hanging a picture or a wall collage can be a cause for cold feet. Take the fear out of the commitment, though, by tracing the outline of your wall art onto a piece of paper. Cut out the representation, and tape it to the wall where you desire your artwork to hang. Arrange and rearrange the paper or papers on the wall until you’ve achieved perfect picture placement. Set the nail while the piece of paper is stuck to the wall, and then replace the paper with the actual decoration. No need to freeze up when you know you won’t be filling and painting unnecessary nail holes that you committed to in haste.

Paper Clutter Organization

paper clutter organization

In our house, incoming papers are hands down our biggest clutter culprit. A small pile on the counter can morph into a disorderly beast in no time. To keep the beast in check, we have a system for our paper clutter organization. We make sure to strategically locate paper containers throughout the house. A basket in the mudroom catches the kids papers when they come home from school. A file in the kitchen keeps bills that need immediate attention. And a file attached to the office desk holds papers for longer term storage. Everything in its place prevents those papers from getting out of hand.
